Powerful BIM Data Management Software Helps Global Independent Construction Companies Improve Design, Preconstruction and Construction Processes
HOUSTON, TX, June 14, 2016 – Assemble Systems, the leading provider of Construction Data Management solutions, announced today that PCL Construction has selected its award winning software for company-wide deployment. PCL construction will incorporate Assemble Systems across the enterprise for use on all of its BIM based projects.
PCL is a group of independent construction companies owned 100 percent by employee shareholders across the United States, Canada and Australia. PCL is involved with more than 700 projects at any given time ranging in value from $20,000 to more than $1 billion. These projects include office towers, residential condominiums, retail outlets, hotels and resorts, educational and health care facilities, casinos, sport and entertainment complexes and more.
PCL recognized the importance of BIM in preconstruction services for improved project control and delivery but wanted to choose the right partner in delivering innovative projects. During the rigorous 6 month evaluation process, PCL’s 5D committee evaluated at least six leading BIM solutions for enterprise-wide implementation.
The 5D committee was made up of VDC and estimating experts from each of the PCL district offices. An internal scoring system was used by PCL to evaluate the vendors across such categories as: ease of use, integration into existing workflows, and an essential functionality checklist. During the evaluation, Assemble provided on-site and off-site training to ensure the successful implementation and adoption across the PCL districts. As a result of Assemble meeting all of the technical requirements combined with the exceptional interaction between the Assemble and PCL teams, Assemble was chosen to be PCL’s technology partner for BIM based projects.
”We evaluated multiple solutions, Assemble was by far the right fit for our pre-construction team.” says Mark Bryant, Chief Information Officer, PCL Construction. “Ease of use and integration into our existing workflows was a major consideration in choosing Assemble. Assemble is enabling us to extend model usage to roles that haven’t traditionally been involved in BIM. With Assemble, our estimating department is now able to use the models for rapid quantity takeoff, change management and visualization of building components.”
”Having entered the market just three years ago, it is very exciting that we were selected to be the technology partner for one of the leading construction firms in North America. This long-term partnership with PCL is a testament to the solutions Assemble is delivering to the AEC market” says Howard Davis, CEO, Assemble Systems. “We look forward to fostering a strong working relationship with the PCL team to ensure we continue to address the needs of the PCL pre-construction teams. It is our goal to work with PCL to extend the use of model data across their projects for improved project control and delivery.”
