The Assemble add-in extracts data such as system parameters, custom parameters, and geometry (in Autodesk Revit) and publishes that information to Assemble for analysis, management, conditioning, verification and sharing. To learn more about the objects, quantities, and geometry published by Assemble, click here.

When you are ready to publish your model data, the Assemble Add-in sends all of your model information directly to Assemble. If you don’t have a model to publish, navigate to the 05 Working with Models section to continue the tutorial.

Publishing from Autodesk Revit

When publishing models from Revit, the Assemble Add-in publishes shared parameters, project parameters, custom user parameters, and geometric data to Assemble. The Assemble Add-in publishes elements from your main model, including elements that are not visible in your current view or which have been turned off in the Visibility/Graphics window (optional). Assemble also allows the user to publish multiple primary design options. The design options can be published as versions of a model for cost comparisons or inventory comparisons. To publish multiple design options, identify the design option to publish, and click the Make Primary button in Revit. Then, use the Assemble Publisher Add-in to publish the model to Assemble. Repeat the process with each design option to be published.

Publishing from Autodesk AutoCAD MEP and Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture

When publishing models AutoCAD MEP and AutoCAD Architecture, the Assemble Add-in publishes the properties of multi-view parts (MVP), the properties of many 3rd party objects, and block attributes. Assemble will also publish your main model and any attached references (xrefs). If you do not want the quantities from the external references included in your Assemble inventory, detach the xrefs before publishing your model.

Note: Assemble does not publish geometry from AutoCAD MEP or AutoCAD Architecture.

Publish your Model from Revit or AutoCAD

Note: The primary, or host, model will need to either be saved locally or opened as a central model to publish to Assemble.

1. Open the model in your Autodesk application (Revit, AutoCAD MEP, or AutoCAD Architecture).
2. On the application menu bar, click the Assemble tab.
3. On the Assemble toolbar, click Publish Model to Assemble.

Note: If the Publish Model to Assemble button is not active, select the default 3D view of the project to activate the button.

4. Enter the Assemble Server configuration provided to you by Assemble Systems, and then click Continue.
5. A new window will appear, prompting you to enter the email address and password used to log into Assemble. Enter your credentials, and then click Sign In.
6. In the Select a project window, either select an existing project or click the + create a project link.
7. Open an existing project by clicking on the project from the list of available projects.
8. In the Select models to Publish window, you have the option to associate the host and linked models with an existing Assemble model or create a new model for each file. Multiple models can be published to a single Assemble model.

Note: Linked models that are not loaded will not be recognized by the Assemble Publisher. Only loaded models will appear in the Publisher wizard.

9. Choose which models to publish by clicking the check box next to the models you want to publish.
10. Under the Select Model drop-down, either select an existing model to publish, or create a new model.
11. If you are creating a new model, choose the Create Model option OR if you are publishing your model(s) to existing Assemble models, choose the correct model name.
12. Choose whether the models should be filtered based on the current Revit view’s visibility/graphics settings. 13. In the Publish a new version of your models window, type the name of your model version.
14. The publishing operation will analyze each model to be published. After analyzing the models, Assemble will begin publishing the data. Click the View Model link to navigate to your model information in the Assemble web application.
