Customer FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Assemble Systems is now part of the Autodesk family, following Autodesk’s acquisition of our company. We are very excited to join Autodesk and have the opportunity to tighten the integration of data from models, to estimates, to schedules, and to the jobsite. We understand that this is a significant development and that you may have questions. We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions. What is happening with active Assemble customers?
- Active Assemble customer agreements will be transitioned to Autodesk subscription contracts and will continue to be honored through remainder of the agreement term. This transition will establish Assemble Assets within Autodesk records to allow customer to view and track all their Autodesk Subscriptions through their Autodesk Account.
- Access to Assemble will not change and will continue to be provided through the same Assemble resources.
Will product training be available for Assemble?
- Training materials and tutorials are available on the Assemble Resources website.
If I have Revit Modelers (a BIM/VDC team) for my construction project, why would I add Assemble?
- Revit data can be enhanced significantly in Assemble through a powerful two-way conditioning engine that allows users to easily group, sort, filter data as well as rename objects for their specific workflow. Then send that data back to Revit to create a “conditioned construction BIM model”.
- You can easily import your estimating coding system and link the objects in the model with the appropriate estimating assemblies.
- You can connect your P6 schedule to your model easily and look at timelines, critical paths, and work package with quantity, WBS codes, and dates at your fingertips (also works on iPad and iPhone). See this description on our website.
- You can import point clouds from field scans to compare actual installed objects with design data in the model.
- Assemble simplifies the distribution of Revit data that has been conditioned for construction to any project team member.
If I have Revit and BIM 360, why would I add Assemble?
- Conditioned data from Assemble will allow for BIM models to be used in Preconstruction, Estimating, and Scheduling workflows thus improving the value generated from model-based workflows. An example of conditioning would be to rename all the walls using Uniformat codes in Assemble, this information is then remembered even during model updates. Often Assemble users will send this updated meta-data to Revit (via push).
- Assemble helps you federate AutoCAD, Revit, and Civil 3D models to create a more complete view of the project.
- Future points of integration will make it easy to leverage conditioned preconstruction data in other BIM 360 workflows.
If I have Navisworks, how can I benefit from using Assemble?
- Assemble enables you to easily group, sort, and filter the data. Assemble offers Navisworks users the ability to organize their Search Sets in Navisworks with the same grouping and organization created in Assemble. That means that you can very easily create property-based grouping such as schedule breakdown, trade packages, work packages, and more.
- Soon, Navisworks users will also be able to publish content from Navisworks Manage to Assemble. This will increase the number of file types supported within Assemble.
Will the existing Assemble integrations continue to be developed and supported?
- Yes. The existing integrations will remain and will be developed further.
Will there be any new Assemble integrations with other partners?
- Yes. Stay tuned for further developments for Estimating and other construction workflows.
